Below are some of the types of vinyl that we offer with descriptions of the vinyl to help you make your decisions when planning a vehicle graphic or wrap, or using vinyl on a project. If you are looking for something that you do not see listed please let us know and we will do our best to help find what you are looking for, chances are we carry it.
Calendar vinyl, also known as intermediate vinyl, is a low cost vinyl which is great for short term signs, banners, window decals, ect. Calendar vinyl is usually available in around 3 to 6 year outdoor life span and 3 to 4 mils thickness. Calendar vinyl does not conform well on uneven or curved surfaces. *Not recommended for vehicle graphics.
Cast vinyl, also know as performance vinyl, is a high quality vinyl which is great for long term signs, banners, window decals, vehicles, ect. Cast vinyl is usually available in 9 to 12 year outdoor life span and 2 to 2.5 mils thickness. Cast vinyl is especially suitable for application on uneven and curved surfaces, corrugations and rivets.
The difference between Calendar and Cast vinyl is the way the vinyl is manufactured. While calendar vinyl starts as a solid and is stretched onto the adhesive, cast vinyl starts as a liquid and is poured onto the adhesive. Because of that reason, calendar vinyl is left with a memory and can have a tendency to expand and contract with hot and cold weather over time, which can lead to cracking or pealing. In addition when removing the vinyl after applied, the calendar vinyl can pull away from the adhesive leaving the adhesive residue behind on the surface, requiring the use of additional adhesive removers to clean the surface in which the vinyl was applied. Cast vinyl on the other hand has no memory and will not expand or contract which gives it a much longer life span. In addition, when removing cast vinyl the vinyl and adhesive will come off the surface in which the vinyl was applied together making for a much easier removal and the use of very little adhesive remover. Normally both types of vinyl are printable. We carry many brands and have a very large color selection of each type of vinyl including opaque, metallic, translucent, transparent, reflective and specialty films such as carbon fiber, gold and silver leaf, mossy oak, real tree and many more.
Wrapping Cast & Digital Print Media
Wrapping cast is again a cast vinyl though usually thicker than the regular cast vinyl around 4 to 6 mils. Wrapping cast is pressure-activated adhesive that allows the vinyl to be positioned and then repositioned until firm pressure is applied and is often referred to as control tack. Wrapping cast is usually equipped with what is commonly known as air release channels or rapid air technology. This gives the vinyl exceptional dimensional stability and conform-ability over curved surfaces, rivets and other configurations. Another great feature with wrapping cast is it can be easily removed up to 5 years without leaving any adhesive residue behind on the surface in which it was applied. Wrapping cast is available in a wide variety of colors so can be used to change the color of your vehicle without painting and also in most cases printable for those custom full graphic wraps. When any vinyls are printed, it is best for long term use to laminate the printed vinyl to prevent scratching.
Perforated Window Film
Perforated Window Film is a perforated vinyl for window graphic applications. When printed and applied from the outside the graphics are visible , but is see threw from the inside. Pref. film has many uses including vehicles where it can be used to match with the rest of your wrap to allow your entire vehicle to be covered with graphics. It also looks good to just do your rear windows on an SUV or truck with a topper to deliver your message rather than a full wrap. The perf. film is also great on buses and office windows, etc. and is available in many styles and life spans usually from 1 to 7 years outdoor.
